Bubba Watson knows the real Master

Isn’t it wonderful when you have a favorite star, athlete, cooking show host, Nascar driver or someone in the spot light? You like to follow them & see what they are doing. They excel in their field. Mostly, that’s why you like them. Because they are good at something. You admire that.

Ok, this may not make much sense. I don’t really watch golf. I don’t have much time to watch hardly anything. But when I do, I LOVE me some Bubba Watson. Here is why I have loved Bubba Watson:

  1. He is from the South. I am from the South
  2. He is left handed. My husband is left handed.
  3. He hugged his mama & cried like a baby when he won the Master’s last year. I know what it’s like to love a mama like that.
  4. His name is Bubba. What is not awesome about that? A guy named Bubba, from the South, that wipes up everybody else on the golf course with his unconventional golf swings. Eat that snobby golf people.
  5. He is out & out a true family man. I love a family man.

So, I found out some more great stuff about my fantastic golf hero. This makes me know I have a hole in one favorite- he’s a Christian. He hired his caddie, who also is a Christian, in hopes to keep him in check. He needed someone there that cared enough about him, to tell him when his attitude & behavior was getting out of hand. According to an article I read on Focus on the Family website, that’s exactly what Ted Scott did.

BUBBA & TED

One day Ted decided he would do his best to keep his end of the bargain. He got frustrated with

his boss & thought it a good idea to just step up & let him know. The conversation went as such:

“If you’re going to continue to act like this,” the caddy told him, “I just can’t work for you. As much as I love you and I think you’re a great player, it’s not in the cards to do this. When he said I was right, I said, ‘I am, really?’ “

Then, you know what? Bubba admitted some things & made some changes.

“I had a bad attitude,” Bubba said taking responsibility. “I was angry because I expected more from my golf, like golf owed me, but it didn’t. Golf doesn’t owe anybody. I guess my immaturity was overwhelming.”

Ephesians 4:15 says  Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. (NKJV)

Bubba respected Ted for what he did. I admire that. Nobody likes to be told they are wrong. It takes a big person to admit what they are hearing is for their own good. Then, make changes. For that reason & others stated prior to that, is why I like Bubba Watson. He’s not perfect. However, is maturing in his life & faith.

Congratulations Bubba, for knowing what it feels like to win the Masters, twice. More importantly, congratulations for knowing the real Master.  May we all strive to know the real Master.

I am so happy you all came by to visit with me today. It’s been a nice couple of days here in Northeast Mississippi. I even took my chair, sat outside, & read a magazine the other day. Looking forward to more days like that. I hope you have a great rest of the week. As for me, I have to be going, because I should be washing clothes.
